Bordallo Pinheiro designed the classic cabbage leaf ceramic tableware in 1884. He encountered an immediate success; since then the collection established itself as an example of 19th century Portuguese cultural heritage. The cabbage leaf bowls are still cast in traditional moulds and are glazed following every vein of the leaf.
