This exquisite 18th Century Italian Two Door Credenza with Canted Sides is a rare and elegant piece that brings both beauty and presence to any interior setting. Featuring two large panelled doors and gracefully canted sides, it is a wonderful example of Northern Italian craftsmanship from the late 1700s, timeless in form, practical in function and effortlessly stylish.
This lovely buffet sits on carved feet and is finished in a soft cream paint, gently aged over time to a warm, with a chalky patina that speaks of centuries of use and care. The door fronts and angled side panels have been later decorated in faded blue panels framed with borders of dull gold.
Each door opens smoothly to reveal generous internal storage and the working lock and key is an original feature and still functions.
The shape, with its canted (angled) sides, creates a sense of sculptural form that lifts it above the ordinary. Whether placed in a hallway, dining room or as a centrepiece in a living room, this credenza draws the eye and anchors the room.
