Florentine Cassapanca Circa 1800 delicately painted with floral motifs and heraldic charm
This beautifully decorative Cassapanca from Florence, dating to around 1800, is a rare and enchanting example of Italian craftsmanship and painted furniture tradition. Originally designed as a storage bench for grand entrance halls or salons, the Cassapanca was a symbol of both utility and status and this one, with its intricate decoration and remarkable preservation, is particularly special.
Measuring 178 cm wide x 37 cm deep x 111 cm high to the top of its elegant arched back, this piece combines functionality with theatrical flair. The softly curving pediment features a heraldic shield motif, flanked by hand-painted garlands and delicate botanical flourishes in muted tones of green, ochre, rose and blue. Below, the front panel is enriched with painted floral urns and scrolls all lightly distressed with age to create a gentle, romantic patina that speaks of centuries past.
The lid lifts to reveal a deep and generous interior, perfect for storing blankets, cushions or simply to be admired for its decorative presence alone.
