Traditionally known as a cassone, these substantial chests were commissioned to celebrate a marriage and were used to store clothing, linens and other treasured possessions.
The warm terracotta, cream, blue and gilt tones give this chest wonderful decorative presence, while the central painted coat of arms provides a fascinating reminder of its original purpose.
