A handsome French oak dining table dating from around 1900, with a substantial rectangular plank top supported by a wonderfully characterful traditional trestle base.
The shaped end supports are joined by a long central stretcher and secured using traditional pegged and wedged construction, providing both strength and an attractive reminder of the craftsmanship involved in its making. The gently shaped feet and sculptural supports give the table plenty of character without making it overly decorative.
The oak has a warm, natural appearance that allows the grain and construction of the table to take centre stage. Generously proportioned and reassuringly solid, it would make a wonderful everyday dining table for a kitchen or dining room.
