A 19th-century Spanish Fajalauza Lebrillo bowl, hand-painted in cobalt blue with a traditional central pomegranate and foliate design surrounded by a bold decorative border.
Originating from Granada in southern Spain, Fajalauza pottery is known for its distinctive hand-painted decoration and rustic glazed earthenware. Lebrillos were originally made as practical household vessels and are now collected as decorative examples of traditional Spanish pottery.
The freely painted cobalt decoration, irregular hand-thrown form and softly aged glaze give this bowl its distinctive character.

Why We Love It
The traditional pomegranate and foliage decoration gives this bowl a strong Mediterranean character, while the deep cobalt blue contrasts beautifully with the warm, naturally aged ground.
The irregular brushwork, variations in the glaze and hand-thrown construction make each Fajalauza lebrillo individual.
Styling Tip
Display upright on a dresser, console or shelf using a suitable plate stand, or hang as part of a collection of antique Spanish ceramics. Its strong blue and white decoration works particularly well alongside rustic furniture, natural materials and other Mediterranean pottery.
