A 19th-century Spanish Fajalauza lebrillo bowl, hand-painted in cobalt blue with a central stylised flower surrounded by a bold decorative border of scrolling floral and foliate motifs.
Originating from Granada in southern Spain, Fajalauza pottery is recognised for its distinctive hand-painted decoration and rustic glazed earthenware. Lebrillos were traditionally made as practical household vessels and are now collected as decorative examples of historic Spanish pottery.
The freely painted cobalt decoration, irregular hand-thrown form and variations in the glaze reflect the traditional methods used to produce these pieces. The naturally aged surface, firing marks and areas of wear contribute to the individual character of the bowl.

Condition
Good antique condition with a repaired crack.
The crack has been repaired with glue and there are no metal staples. There are also two holes to the reverse which have previously been used for hanging.
There is age-related glaze wear, crazing, small chips and surface losses together with firing imperfections and natural variations associated with handmade pottery of this age.
