An exceptional large Italian mirror created from an antique painted door from a Florentine palazzo, dating from around 1740. With its remarkable scale, beautifully aged painted surface and more than 280 years of history, this is a wonderfully individual piece of Florentine decorative art.
The tall architectural form is finished in beautiful blue paint with a richly aged and atmospheric patina. The lower section features a hand-painted shield surrounded by decorative detailing in the Florentine style of the period.
The upper panel has been fitted with a new mirror plate, sympathetically transforming the antique door into a spectacular and practical decorative mirror while preserving its historic character.
At over two metres high, this is a genuine statement piece with wonderful scale and presence.

Authenticity
Every antique piece at Tallulah Fox has lived a unique life before finding its way to us. Gentle wear, historic repairs, natural patina and the character that comes with age are not imperfections but part of each piece's story, making every item entirely individual. We believe these signs of age are what give antique furniture and decorative pieces their warmth, authenticity and enduring appeal.
Why We Love This Piece
We love that its history remains immediately visible. Rather than disguising its origins, the conversion into a mirror celebrates the wonderful proportions, beautifully aged blue paint and hand-painted decoration of the 18th century palazzo door. At over two metres tall, it has extraordinary presence and is a truly unique piece of Florentine history.
